The Jaguars started Interclub a couple of years ago in an effort to improve the training and playing environment during the winter for our youngest teams. Last year was a big success and the program served to fullfill a number of objectives.
The number one objective was to bring our entire club together below the age of 12 in order to expose players to other coaches and teams inside the club. Teams got the opportunity to play for and in front of coaches and directors from the Jaguars organization. Black team players were seen by white team coaches more often and white team players were seen by green team coaches and so on. The program increased the amount of relationships that our young players had with other kids in the club and other coaches that they might not regularly see.
Interclub made it possible for us to control the competition and games for our young teams. The object was to put our teams in an environment that would excelerate their development. The focus being almost completely on creativity, taking risks, and playing the game the right way instead of worrying solely about winning and losing. Don’t misunderstand that these games wont be competitive. We are able to manage these games to make sure that all of our kids get what they should out of games.
Teams will get the chance to play games in a number of different situations. Boys will play girls, older will play younger, stronger will play weaker. This helps us create a number of different scenarios in order to expand our players ability to adapt to different game scenarios.
